How to start

One small step at a time.

A first appointment can feel easier when you know what will happen. You do not need to have the words ready.

Get in touch

Send a message, call, or text. You can write as much or as little as you want.

You do not need to explain everything at the first contact.

If you are nervous

Most people are. You can send a very short message. You can ask a partner, friend or colleague to sit with you while you call. You can text instead of speaking. Any of those counts as starting.

I reply within one working day. I am not a crisis service — if you need help tonight, use the numbers on the crisis page, or call 999 if you are in danger.
